When trees are down, please turn around and DON’T Go around.

TREES Down-We know you are out for a beautiful hike at Turkey Mountain, but when trees are down, please don’t go around. This creates new, unnecessary trail and isn’t safe. Please turn around and find a new route. Our volunteers are working hard to get the trails open but it might take some time. Please make their job easier and don’t go around, just turn around! As of 7/19, the yellow, red, and blue trails are fully open.

If you find downed trees, you can email the folks over at River Parks (staff@riverparks.org) and let them know the exact location on the trail. You can also mark the location on the map and send it to them which is super duper helpful.

Here’s a link to the map.

HUGE NEWS!!!! Turkey Mountain Receives National Parks Recreation Trail Designation

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis announced the designation of six local and state National Recreation Trails, one of which is TURKEY MOUNTAIN! All thanks to the efforts of Marci Hawkins for spearheading the application efforts and the Tulsa Urban Wilderness Coalition in conjunction with River Parks Authority.

This does not transfer ownership of Turkey Mountain to the National Park Service but merely recognize the importance of Turkey Mountain as a wilderness area and its recreational value.
